Saturday night was a blast at Monroes. The top DJ's in Phoenix were spinning the sickest tracks. Sonorous jumped in and mixed it up with the DJs live spinning and scratchin. Jan sat in on guest sax along with the rest of Satans horns (AKA Sonorous's horn section. ) The night kept going after 2am when local street rapper Merv, showed up with an unexpected street show out front of Monroes. Be sure to check out the show on Tuesday the 27th @ Monroes.

11/6 - Day of The Dead in Tucson - Flam Chen and more..
Tato, Eric and friends dropped down to Tucson on Sunday to march in the Day of the Dead parade. It was a blast to see so many dead people walking the streets. Next year be sure we'll have a horn and drum section marching along with us.

11/5 - Sonorous & Meatwhistle Together at last @ Mardi Gras-
3 parts Punk, 1 part insane Jazz

If you've never seen Meatwhistle live, well; you're missing out. Sonorous performed a quick 30 minute Improv set sans Matt. The horns were blaring, while Eric and Tato kicked out some Industrial Techno back beats.. Meatwhistle stole the show with their shenanigans which included cake all over the club and of course plenty of candle wax on the nipples.

10/10/05 - A Sonorous Week
A Bunch of shows and a Bunch of Fun..

Starting Thursday we played Scottsdale's Art walk near the G2 Gallery, and sold a bunch of CDs. Thanks to the G2 Gallery for their support. Then it was on the Phoenix's 1st Friday art walk at Legend City's Chaos Theory show. It Featured all the our local artist crew, like Englert, Slack, Rameriez, Bonner and Yazzie. From there we went to Living Heads Katrina benefit show, which was such a huge success the police shut it down before Sonorous could play, but the late afterhours produced some great jams with Tato, Chris, Matt and Mark.

On to Sunday the best show of them all. The Infamous Yard Dogs Road Show, was a blast. Sonorous opened the show with their friends performing. Melanie on Hula Hoop, Mattie on the high wire ring, Ellisha belly dancing, finally ending with a 30 minute set from the Strange family circus. Then the Yard Dogs took over with a hour or more or great music filled with burlesque and plenty of circus side show appeal. Hundreds of people showed making the event a great success. Thanks to the Icehouse and Belgium Brewing Company for sponsoring. Pictures coming soon....

Check out the Yard Dogs Road Show : http://www.eddyjoecotton.com/yarddogs.html.

Tato10/3/05 - The Missing Emerald Items...
Chairs, tables, bars paintings where did it all end up.

Since the closing of the bar, many items were salvaged. Eric from Sonorous got a few tables and the stage right paintings by Tato. Paintbrush got a huge chuck of the original bar, which he put in his garage. Greg the owner made off with the mini bar by the door.

10/1/05 - The Loft in Tempe proves, Tempe has a cool bar !
Finally a show with music lovers.

Sonorous rocked the house last Saturday at The Loft in Tempe and had a great reception from the crowd. The Loft has a cool upstairs Loft, that you can chill in and also an outdoor patio, where you get to see things from back stage. Hopefully you'll being seeing us more around town now that the Emerald is closed.

9/17/05 - Katrina Benefit at the Ice House.
Raised some money for the cause, but promoters rude to band.

Well if you know Sonorous by now, then you know we always volunteer to do benefit shows when we can, unfortunately our experience with them at the Ice House hasn't been very successful for us, because organizers can't seem to get the bands to play on time and we are usually slated to play towards the end. In this instance one of the organizers became abusive towards our band when we voiced some discontent on having us wait until 1am to find out that we could no play because security had left. Oh well, we're glad they raised some money, I know Sonorous donated close to $100 dollars out of their pockets.

9/16/05 - Emeralds Last Show 9/15/2005.
The last show was a blowout.

If you we one of the hundreds of people who came to the last show it was a blowout. Awesome sets by, Sound of Birds, 7 Story Mountain and The Necronauts. Pics coming soon. The following day Tato salvaged some of his art off the walls by cutting out the drywall.

Thanks Greg for all the years of supporting the Phoenix and National music scene. We'll all miss the Lounge.

8/9/05 -Tuesday @ Emerald Packed House
Hillary Tash Debut, huge success, Rocketline Rocks, Sonorous Tight as hell.
Our close friend Hillary had her singing and piano playing debuted last night at the Emerald. Tato was on bass and they played a 20 min set of some classically themed pieces that were amazing. Just before that Rocketline shook the crowd with a great set of some heavy and smooth flows. Sonorous, ended the night with a great set of their own standards, and a few improvs. Michael Red had to tend bar, but that didn't stop him from tooting his own horn in the crowd. Lonna K jumped up for a few of our favorites.

Sonorous Returns from MMW Tour in Texas.

Eric - John Medeski - Matt - Tato - Chris Wood - Backstage in Houston.

Sonorous was in Texas a few weeks ago promoting their new album "Somethin' Like That" and we hooked up with the guys from Medeski Martin & Wood.    ( www.mmw.net ) The trip was amazing and lets just say we were lucky to make it back to Phoenix. We hung out with MMW and discussed Music and Improv as well as finding out that John Medeski studied with local Phoenician and global jazz legend Chuck Marohnic.
( www.chuckmarohnic.com ) . The 3 shows were amazing and Sonorous met a ton of great locals all around Texas, regardless of Bush being from there, Texans are some of the greatest people.

Thanks to our Texas friends in Houston, Dallas and Austin, Amy, Josh, Brian, and all the other cats we met and helped us survive the trip.

Sonorous back in NY to see MMW benefit show. Click Here

Technicolor Bubbles8/4/05 - Technicolor Bubbles Record.
Sonorous drummer plays bass on album.

Over the last week, the Technicolor Bubbles recorded 10 songs with Producer / Engineer Grace Royce. Grace is the same one who produced Sonorous's album "Somethin' Like That". Unfortunalty the recording means the demise of the Bubbles. Lead singer and songwriter Christa (18 years old) has a full ride scholarship to Notre Dame for swimming. The album is coming out amazing, and Greg (Drums, and owner of the Emerald Lounge), Eric (Bass) nailed their 10 songs in a few hours. The next day Christa banged out 10 songs on vocals. Special guest Lance from 7 Story Mountain jumped in on some amazing guitar.. Over the next few days we hope to get Christopher from Les Payne Project and Lovers of Guts to play some keys. GOOD LUCK CHRISTA, WE'LL ALL MISS YOU ;-)

Wet Cat !8/2/05 - Phoenix Monsoons shut down Emerald show. Let it rain
Last tuesdays monsoons blew off the Emerald Lounges front door and water came in through the back door via a flooded parking lot. So sorry if you tried to come out to the show... we'll see ya this tuesday.

7/30/05 - Goodbye to Thought Crime
Last of the original studios ?
Thanks to Michael 23 and JoAnna for their tireless efforts over the last 10 years in phoenix's budding art scene. Thought Crime threw their last party and what a party it was... Rumor has it the building was bought out by a company that develops land and realestate in phoenix. But don't fear you can still look forward to Michael & JoAnna's Firehouse...

7/24/05 - Tato on TV
Channel 15 does artist review of Tato's art....
If you were up at 7:45 AM sunday morning, you may have seen a special art peice on Tato. It was a 5+ minute long presentation of Tato's art and also had some shots of the band playing in Tempe. Check back soon for a link to the video..

Devotchka 7/18/05 - Devotchka & Lonna Kelley -
Best damn show in town....
Last night Sonorous attended a sold out show at the Rhythm Room for their friends Lonna Kelley and the Reluctant Messiahs, and Colorado's Devotchka. Lonna started the show slow and sweet, the crowd wasn't sure what to expect, then after a few songs they were mesmerized. Michael Red, jumped in for 2 great tracks that needed some trombone, Shane kept perfect time on the kit and Kevin was smooth as usual. From there Devotchka took the stage and rocked the house. For a smaller venue, it sounded like a stadium crowd. Devotchka played all of their classics, every song was a favorite, they even jumped into the crowd to do an acoustic song... After the show, things got out of control at a local bar with the downtown crew....but we all made it home safe..i think..

7/1/05 - Studio Lodo & Monroes -
Great Art, Great Friends, Great Music
The night started at Studio Lodo in downtown, where Sonorous played an Art opening for a few of their good friends. Lesli Englert, Randy Slack, Leigh, and Brian Bonner. It was a packed house and the art was some of the best in town. From there Lonna Kelley opened the show at Monroes with an awesome set that sounded unbelievable. Sonorous went on to play 2 sets of mostly improv and some oldies. The night ended with some local muscians (Mike Little and Friends) jumping up on stage and performing some impressive improv.

6/29/2005 - Emerald Rocks
Sonorous Packs the House.
Tuesday night was a full house Sonorous was the only band that played. Special guest star Jimmy Vespa ( Mad Juana, NYC & ex- Hypnotwists member) sat in on some amazing trumpet. Jemajo tried out a new hand made bamboo flute. The night had some great improv and a few not so great, but thats the risk we take making up music on the spot. All in all it was a high energy show.

6/4/2005 - Monroes Back in Action!
Monroes Downtown newly remodeled.
1st saturday at Monroes was a blast. The Lovely Lonna Kelley opened the night with some of her classics and some great new stuff. Lonna also sat in on a few tracks in our 1st set. Chris Doyle (Some say phxs top guitarist) sat in with us on the second set. It was a packed house. Mark your calendars because we will be featured regularly at Monroes on every 1st Saturday.

6/3/2005 - 1st Friday's Blowin up!
More socialites, but more $$$ for the arts?.
Well the normal 1st firday crowd of Gen-xrs and Scenesters has been disrupted by tourists and Scottsdalites. Does this mean more $$$ for phoenixs literal starving artists ? Either way it looks like they're here to stay. We played outside at Carly's and had a blast. We sold out of CDs and played a little back up for Jeremy Cutthroat Freak Show..... Phoenixs finest were out on Horses, but they had nothing to do, because we know how to keep it cool.

5/26/2005 - Mesa Arts Center - A Big Hit!
Special Thanks to Susan.
The show at Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, was a great time. Besides the heat, a bunch of art and music lovers turned out to support the arts. The architecture is some of the best in Arizona, so was the music ;-). Be sure to check out this Arizona treasure. Thanks to the City of Mesa...

Later that night....
Modified Arts hosted a great show with Nick Javina, and Mike Little had some great sets and Sonorous closed up the night with a set of improv....

And even later that night....
Lonna Kelley
and the Reluctant Messiahs, rocked the Emerald Lounge... I think it was the best Lonna Kelley show I've ever seen, with the instrumental back up, it was quite an amazing experience. We love ya Lonna, keep on keepin on !!! Be sure to buy her album...
The lineup:
Lonna Kelley - Vocals, Guitar
Shane Kennedy - Percussion
Kevin Pate - Stand up Bass
Jeremy Randall - Steel Guitar

5/24/2005 - Have you ever been Experienced, I Have....
The Emerald Lounge Experience - Tuesdays
Last nights show was really one of our best. The improv was sick and unpredictable, with some great guest musicians. Wish we were recording because you'll never hear those songs again.
Guest Musicians:
Olivier' - Guitar
Jan - Sax Tenor
Mark - Sax Alto
Mike Red - Trombone
Jemanjo - Hand Made Flute

5/19/2005 - Rock the Casbah
Damn were lucky. Why ? Because we get to play with a great group of beautiful belly dancers... Last nights show at the PaperHeart was a blast, and special thanks to Elisha for hookin us up. The girls put on a great show and we ended the show with some tribal dance beats with special guest drummers (Matt from the Complainiacs and Clair from the Mad Caps) - thanks for the beats..

5/17/2005 - Attention all MySpace Geeks
http://www.myspace.com/11854814
We got our myspace site tuned up so check it out. Also if you want to be our friend, then you need to seek counseling, the good thing is we can counsel you....

5/15/2005 - Thought Crime Show - 10 year.
Sonorous played to a sold out show at Thought Crimes 10 year anniversary. The whole place was dancing up a storm to some triphop improv. The Complainiacs put on an awesome show and some sick DJs closed out the night in style. Special thanks to Michael & Joanna 23....
